About the Position

AFNTS is excited to create 2 internships aimed at providing learning opportunities with the Tech Services Department at Mi’kmaw Kina'matnewey. The IT Student Interns will be part of a team that will encourage use of technical abilities and increase employability. 

 
Summary of Duties:

  • Perform hardware and software installation procedures
  • Assist in handling data migration duties
  • Providing support in diagnosing hardware and software issues and troubleshooting activities
  • Assist in preparing training activities and assist in delivery
  • Assist with network upgrades and troubleshooting when required
  • Providing technical support to office staff, schools, and health centres as required
  • Assisting with various organizational projects
  • Graphic design and photography/videography are assets
  • Auditing and updating the asset management system
  • Other duties as assigned based on areas of interest and organizational needs

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Enrolled in an IT related Diploma program
  • A strong foundation of computer systems, mobile devices and technical platforms
  • Willingness to learn, and enthusiasm for technical applications, networking applications and multimedia production
  • An understanding of the latest technical trends
  • A team player, who is able to accept and execute directions effectively
  • Security minded, keeping positive cyber awareness practices in mind

Assets:

  • Knowledge of the organizational structure of various government and First Nation organizations
  • Knowledge of Mi’kmaw, Maliseet, or Innu language, culture, and customs
  • There may be some travel, so a driver’s license and access to a dependable vehicle is preferred
