Brianne Perrier's Story
Hi! My name is Brianne and I’m a Digital Marketing student from eCampus. I participated in the Service Learning and Spanish program in Guayaquil, Ecuador this summer and I’m so happy I did.
This opportunity was more amazing than I could have ever imagined! Being immersed in a culture so different from my own really gave me the opportunity to grow, not only as an individual, but also as a global citizen. It helped me to better understand the privileges we experience in Canada and how easily those can be taken for granted.
During my time in Ecuador, I lived with a host family, volunteered at a wildlife rescue, attended a local university learning Spanish and dance, and spent my weekend exploring different areas of the country. All of this has made me feel a part of the community here and I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to do a trip like this if it weren’t for NSCC International and the Global Skills Opportunity grant. I’m so beyond grateful to have had this experience, it was once in a lifetime and was absolutely life changing. If you have the opportunity to go on an exchange in the future, do it!!
