Opportunities for Students

On this page

Where can your NSCC education take you? Literally, around the world.

Every year, NSCC students travel abroad for 2-4 weeks to spend time at a partner institution and work on projects with local and other international students. In the past, students have traveled to countries including Austria, Croatia, Denmark, Ecuador, Grenada, The Netherlands, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Spain, Tanzania or Vietnam.

Programs are funded by Global Skills Opportunity, the Government of Canada’s Outbound Student Mobility Pilot Program.

Students accepted into these programs must fully complete the mandatory pre-departure online course and attend the pre-departure conference in April.

Students must sign a learning agreement, complete all necessary risk management forms and documentation, and follow the NSCC international travel policy and Student Community Standards Policy.

What you'll do

  • Apply knowledge, skills and attitudes from tasks and projects in an international setting
  • Outline the benefits of cross-cultural collaboration for work-related projects and tasks
  • Build evidence of experiences and new learning (both personal and industry related) for portfolio development and the education of others
  • Assess safety and risk pertaining to international travel to make informed decisions about traveling abroad
  • Identify and reflect on the differences and similarities between Canada and the country that you are visiting

Cost and funding

Applications to participate in outbound mobility projects open each fall. The estimated cost to participate in a program is $4,500. Bursaries are available up to $1500/$2500.
