In this session of Webinar Wednesdays, Shawn McGrath, CEO of ACFOR Energy, walked through how a new system, Forest Ledger, was developed and tested to measure and visualize the historical data of forest biomass used to replace fossil fuel heating at NSCC’s Lunenburg Campus.

Drawing on this case study, Shawn explained how the system tracks biomass from forest harvesting through transportation and processing to on-site energy use. He discussed how this approach improves transparency, strengthens emissions reporting and supports more informed decision-making about renewable heating.

As organizations look to reduce their carbon footprint, tools that connect forest management with energy performance are becoming increasingly important.
