Summary:  Performs field installations of wind measurement equipment on potential wind farm sites and coordinates subcontractors for the same. Processes data collected to be used to determine the energy output of future wind farm projects. 

Requirements:    

  • Performs site work across Canada to deploy, maintain and decommission meteorological instruments and data logging systems, ground-based LiDAR and SoDAR devices, and off-grid power supplies. Coordinate key contractors to perform the same.
  • Collaborates with HSQE team members to ensure all work complies with RES and Provincial health and safety standards and safe work procedures.
  • Performs on-site safety audits of contractors performing installation of 200'-400' tilt up (non-climbable) and lattice (climbable) met towers including lifts, underground structures (foundations, etc.), and instrumentation installation.
  • Enters commissioned measurement systems' details into the data management database.
  • Maintains data connectivity and up-time of measurement systems. Troubleshoot and configure cellular modems and measurement systems.
  • Performs basic data analysis tasks including simple correlations, review of data traces from multiple instruments, flagging of faults, and icing.
  • Reports measurement system faults on a regular basis to the team to allow for maintenance planning.
  • Works with key suppliers to order and maintain stock of equipment. Basic desk-based configuration wiring and testing of instrumentation.
  • Reads and performs basic edits of wiring diagrams and basic mechanical schematics. Basic AutoCAD skills to do so would be an asset.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Presents, supports, and leads by example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
  • Lone work in remote locations.
  • Occasional work at heights up to 400' – safety training provided.
  • Outdoor work in all seasons.
  • Capable of hiking up to 5km.Capable of carrying equipment, working with simple hand tools
  • Travel Canada-wide up to 70% - Self-Coordinated.
  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action. Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Environmental Science or Engineering Technology preferred. 
  • 1+ years of field-based renewable energy experience preferred. 
  • Read and perform basic edits of wiring diagrams and basic mechanical schematics. Basic AutoCAD skills to do so would be an asset.
  • Microsoft Office Suite – advanced Excel/Data Manipulation an asset.
  • Previous generalized experience in construction and/or work at height would be an asset.
  • Ability to travel 50-75%.
  • Valid driver’s license.
