We’re proud of our work helping to expand and improve Canada’s infrastructure and transportation networks, and we’re ready to build the future of our country. Aecon is currently seeking a Survey Assistant to join the Aecon Construction Ontario East Ltd., ACOE, Survey Team, working out of the Ottawa area. Under the general supervision and direction of a Surveyor, the Survey Assistant will support the daily activities of the surveying group working on our various projects.

 

What You'll Do Here

Maintain and verify provided control network.Work with the Survey Team to develop survey plans/job lay out methods and procedures for conducting construction surveys.Collect, manage, and output data using conventional survey methods and computer-aided design.Record measurements and other information obtained during survey activities.Work with the Engineering team to develop and analyze as-builts drawings.Assist to complete lay out calculations.Work with the Surveyor to establish and maintain site survey control.Maintain and calibrate survey equipment.Assist with setting-up GPS and machine control systems on-site.

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Team

Post-secondary education in Surveying, Geomatics or Civil Engineering.Knowledge of survey practices and standards. Any experience in Construction surveying industry would be considered an asset. Strong computer skills and proficient in the use of office, data, surveying, and engineering-based software. Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills.Knowledge of engineering design and survey methods. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Available to travel to various projects.Driver’s license (Class G). Driver’s Abstract required.
