Heritage Trust of NS is looking for a videographer/filmmaker to create a 45 to 60 minute video of a live talk for posting on our youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtnRCmk6WF-z9UxkxE886fw.
The talk will take place with a small invited audience either at Northwood, Halifax or in a Board Room in Downtown Dartmouth, preferably during office hours.
Our speaker is Bill Mont, an active senior born in the early 1930s. “Growing up in Greenbank” will record his memories of what life was like in Greenbank and Halifax when he was a child and young man. Greenbank has disappeared. It was a working-class neighbourhood on the harbour and was displaced by the expansion of Ocean Terminals in the South End of Halifax.
This talk is based on a presentation Bill Mont gave several years ago. We have a PowerPoint of the photographs used at his earlier talk and would want them edited into the video. Bill has an extensive collection of memorabilia, so there may be an opportunity to capture more of a ‘live’ feel with Bill talking about a few artifacts, to enrich the documentary record.
This is a good chance to include a documentary (oral history) in your portfolio!
A Screen Arts student who has completed one year is preferred but a first year student with some experience will be considered.
We are looking for a dependable, adaptable student who has some flexibility in scheduling (date and time for videotaping to be negotiated).
Ability to work with non-professionals/volunteers and an interest in social history would help.
