The City of Saint John is currently accepting resumes for the position of Student GIS Technician for a term of approximately four months beginning in May. The successful candidate will be part of the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) team and will use mobile GIS data collection apps as well as train and provide support to Operations staff on the use of mobile GIS data collection apps for asset condition assessment. In addition, the student will document processes, map assets in the GIS, and update asset attributes using the GIS desktop software or mobile data collection apps.
The ideal candidate should be proficient with Esri software, spreadsheets and databases; have strong analytical and communication skills; and a valid Class 5 driver’s license. To be considered for the position, the incumbent must be a student who has completed a minimum of one year post-secondary education in GIS or a GIS related program.
The successful applicant will work a compressed work week of 4 days (Monday to Thursday) under the City’s newly adopted Compressed Work Week Policy Trial.
