Reporting to: Director of HR (indirect to HR Team members)

Final date: August 25, 2023
Pay rate: $16.50 per hour, 35 hours per week
Metro Community Housing Association operates in the HRM as a non-profit agency providing a range of support services for persons who live with mental illness. Employing approximately 200 staff in a unionized environment, we would like to partner with a student enrolled and interested in Human Resource Management, to assist our HR Department.
Position Summary: The HR Intern will work in the HR Department, partnering with HR Team members mainly in the areas of recruitment and staff training.
The ideal candidate will have solid Microsoft Excel skills, demonstrated professionalism, diplomacy and tact, a high regard for confidentiality, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail where organization is key; comfortability and confidence in communications with applicants, references, supervisory team members, Employees etc.
Duties: Support the staffing processes, including the review of applications, scheduling interviews, completing reference checks, developing offer letters, facilitating new hire orientations and the collection of new hire documents. Coordinate the staff training processes including tracking, recording, and scheduling the 7 Core Competency training modules with external and internal trainers. Performs other duties as the need arises to assist the HR Department.
