We are currently accepting applications for Payroll Associate to join our team.

 Responsibilities:

  • Enters and processes status changes for staff including new hires appropriate earnings/deductions set up and setting up employees in the system to use the time clock if necessary.
  • Processes increments for staff in accordance with the appropriate collective agreements in a timely manner and determines and calculates retroactive payments
  • Processes payment for various payroll deduction programs Processes garnishments and submits funds withheld from employees on a regular basis
  • Submits funds withheld for union dues to the appropriate unions on a monthly basis; submits corresponding reports.
  • Processes a full payroll run from start to finish.
  • Processes Records of Employment. Assists in the completion of WCB Accident reports and forwards required information to WCB Prints and distributes payroll reports.
  • Completes confirmation of employment letters or forms as requested
  • Provides information and special reports to management as required
  • Provides staff attendance reports as required

 

Salary:  As per Northwood Scale

Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly (8 hour shifts)

Effective:             Immediately

Qualifications

Completion of Grade 12 and graduate of a recognized business program as well as working towards or having achieved the Canadian Payroll Association Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification.

Three or more years’ experience in a payroll setting (preferably health care)

Demonstrated knowledge in computerization, including MS Office and payroll software

Knowledge of Avanti payroll software is considered an asset.

Excellent keyboarding skills

Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work overtime and on statutory holidays as required

Knowledge of and adherence to Privacy Act guidelines at all times

Knowledge of and adherence to all Corporate policies, current collective agreements and government legislation, i.e. Labour Standards, Income Tax Act, Workers Compensation Legislation, Employment Insurance Legislation, etc.

Skills: Confidentiality, attention to detail, accuracy, organization, maturity, flexibility, ability to work well under pressure, analytical, strong team player, adaptable to change, ability to set and adjust priorities frequently

Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis.
