About the Position

The electrical estimator’s main role is to assist in estimating small to large sized projects using software to produce accurate quotes and bills of material. The estimator should have excellent communication skills which will enable them to build and maintain professional relationships with our customers and vendors. This person should have a thorough and up to date understanding of the Canadian and Nova Scotia Electrical Codes

Qualifications

Responsibilities include: 

· Prepare quotes from supplied electrical drawings or single line drawings, building blueprints and general contractor specifications, equipment lists or general customer information.

· Participate in closing the bid, bid review meetings, and other job closing related tasks

· Manage scope of work changes.

· Work with purchasing to engage suppliers and obtain competitive project pricing

· Prepare detailed material take-offs and labour hour breakdowns for cost analysis.

· Participate hand off meetings on successful tenders to transition the project to the Construction Project Management team.

· Communicate with customers and suppliers.

· Conduct site visits to determine the constructability of projects.

· Interpret and apply the necessary standards associated with the Nova Scotia and Canadian electrical code.  

Required Skills

· Experience with Accubid or equivalent Quoting Software is preferred but will be taught

· Organization and Time Management Skills are essential

· Communication is a key component of this role, applicant must be fluent in English. Bilingualism or multilingualism would be considered an asset.

· Required to have up to date knowledge of the Nova Scotia and Canadian Electrical Code.

· The ability to read and understand electrical drawings, single line drawings, building blueprints, and general contractor specifications
