About the Position

We are looking for a skilled Welder to cut and join metals and other materials at our facilities or construction sites. They will operate appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision. The ideal candidate must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The applicant will also have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate specified welding equipment to fabricate and perform repairs on new and used equipment.
  • Support in preforming material takeoffs and fabrication design.
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies.
  • Maintain a clean work area in shop or on job site and any assigned vehicles.
  • Assist other shop employees with repairs and duties.
  • Inspect and maintain assigned hand tools and equipment to ensure they are in working order, notifying Manager of needed repairs.
  • Ensure quality, efficient, and safe completion of all repairs.
  • Conform in all respects with applicable federal, provincial, and local laws, regulations, ordinances, and other orders and to all Company policies, procedures, and directives from supervisors.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED desired
  • Certification of basic welding skills and/or two years' experience in welding/fabricating
  • Class 5 preferable
  • Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
  • Day shift only – on call schedule for emergency repairs only
  • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures
  • Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with others
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under limited supervision
  • Ability to regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in usually loud conditions
