About the Position

Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is inviting applications for casual, seasonal positions of Summer Outdoor Inclusion Support in the Recreation Programming division of Parks & Recreation and is committed to reflecting the community it serves and recognizing Diversity and Inclusion as one of the Municipality’s core values. The Inclusion Support Staff supports persons in Summer and is responsible for working with participants for the duration of the week. Weekly duties may include greeting participant, speaking to parents/guardians (if applicable), personal care, adapting activities, providing 1:1 support for the camper and ensuring open communication in the needs of the participants. Responsible for actively engaging in the program along with the participant and adapting the activity as necessary. Reports to the Inclusion Coordinator and the Community Recreation Coordinator. 

Qualifications

Qualifications, Education and Experience:

  • Experience working with individuals with special needs
  • Previous experience working with preschoolers/children/youth in a recreational setting an asset

Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities

  • Current certification in Emergency First Aid and Level C CPR an asset
  • Successful completion of all training requirements (Including High Five and WHMIS) prior to start date
  • Screening through the Child Abuse Registry and a Police Records Check

Job Status:  These are casual, seasonal positions, with varying hours requirements and work locations which are identified through separate postings on our Employer website (7209BR, 7210BR, 7211BR, 7212BR).  These are non-union positions with a wage of $17.30 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay).
