A. Prepare and follow a camp menu providing for a wholesome, well-balanced diet which will be attractive to the campers.
B. Place food orders and check the deliveries against the invoices. (When placing an order instruct salesmen to deliver supplies to the camp.)
C. Keep careful inventory of all food purchases and supplies throughout the camping season
D. Supervise the storage of food items.
E. Supervise the assistant cooks, providing a schedule and assigning duties and responsibilities.
F. Ensure the sanitation and cleanliness of the kitchen, utensils, containers, cloths, towels, food storage areas, etc.
G. Maintain health standards according the N.S. Health requirements.
H. Direct the preparation of meals, ensuring they are ready at the time arranged by the Camp Director and Program Director.
I. Arrange snacks for staff and campers in the evening.
J. Participate in the camp program as responsibilities allow.
K. Maintain a good rapport with fellow kitchen workers.
A. Must have experience in meal planning for large groups.
B. Must be able to adapt to the needs, diets and tastes of children and youth camps.
C. Must be willing to adapt to the conditions and program of the camp setting.
D. Must be clean and neat in personal appearance.
E. Must have an up-to-date certificate in Food Handling Course.
