About the Position

La Piazza is seeking a Sous Chef to join their culinary team and work alongside the Chef and team to manage daily kitchen activities. Responsibilities of the Sous Chef include:

  • Manages food and product ordering by keeping records and minimizing waste, plus works with existing systems to improve waste reduction and manage budgetary concerns.
  • Assists Chef with menu creation.
  • Ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance.
  • Supervises all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards.
  • Assists the Chef and team in maintaining equipment in good condition, to maximize usage.
  • Maintains good communication with other kitchen staff, and other departments.
  • Train, mentor and develop the skills and careers of the culinary team
  • Can handle On-shift labor management
  • Actively supports La Piazza team culture, and contributes to achieve the restaurants vision, values, and goals.

Qualifications

We are looking for an ambitious candidate who enjoys cooking and is looking to grow and make an impact in a fresh and local favourite kitchen. Candidates should be: 

1. Organized

2. Work well autonomously and within a team

3. Studying in culinary school or having previous restaurant experience.

4. Strong communicator
