The Mobile Food Market is a non-profit based in Halifax that strives to bring healthy and fresh food to HRM communities with food access barriers. We are looking for new volunteers to step into our Seniors Support role in our Fresh Food Box program - a "by seniors, for seniors" initiative that gets healthy food into seniors residence buildings.
Every Wednesday the MFM delivers orders of fresh produce to a seniors residence building. Volunteers are responsible for meeting the delivery truck, bringing produce inside, helping seniors to lift heavy items, and helping the seniors with whatever they need in distributing the food throughout their buildings. The program takes place weekly on Wednesdays between 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM.
This role is suited for someone who has experience working with seniors or vulnerable populations, enjoys working in a team environment, is passionate about community and food security, and wants to gain experience working for a local food access initiative. Ideally you are available for 1-2 shifts a month.
