Membership

As a full and part time student at NSCC, you automatically become a member of your Student Association (SA). Each of our campuses across the province has its own SA, which is governed by an elected student Executive Committee (made up of a President, VP Finance, VP Communications, VP Services and VP Activities) and various class and program representatives.

The SA helps students work together to improve student life by creating opportunities for balanced lifestyles, promoting health and wellness, and encouraging campus-wide communication and participation. The mission of the SA is to organize activities and events (both on campus and off), provide important programs to encourage your growth as a student and offer great services that make your learning environment more supportive not to mention enjoyable.

Governance

Each of our 14 Student Associations is governed by one shared document – the NSCC SA Common Constitution (PDF 149KB). This constitution outlines the general principles, roles, responsibilities and operating guidelines of your SA. It covers such areas as: SA membership, officers of the SA, how student leaders maintain executive status, elections, and position responsibilities, among others.

Activities & Events

Activities, events, programs and services offered by the Student Association are determined based on the needs of each specific student membership, so each campus has a unique combination of offerings. Activities may include representation on college committees, orientation events, student emergency funding, peer tutoring, fundraising and charitable giving, and sports and recreation. Visit the NSCC SA website to keep up to date on your campus events and activities.
