NSCC Student Handbook

Student Handbook

Starting a new chapter can be very exciting, but it can also be a bit daunting. There is so much to know! That is why we have created a student handbook (PDF 6.59MB) that acts as a guide to all things NSCC. Your handbook contains:

  • A day planner to manage your assignments, tests, and appointments
  • Information about student services and supports
  • Academic policies and procedures
  • Financial planning resources and exercises to help you stay on track with your expenses
  • And more

Financial Planning Resources (page 39)

Having a good financial plan for college can help you focus on what’s most important – your future! The Getting Started (PDF 130KB) activity, which includes a needs assessment calculator will help you identify the key building blocks of your financial plan – your expenses and your resources. Knowing if you have a shortfall up front will help you prepare to avoid undue stress later. It is always better to have time to investigate further financial resources and options to help you fund your college experience.

Take the time at the end of each month to reflect on the questions asked in the Things to Think About sections to learn tips and strategies to stay on track. We are confident that by investing some time and effort into your financial plan each month, you will start to feel a real sense of financial empowerment!
