Accessibility Services

If you have a diagnosed or undiagnosed physical, mental health, chronic health or learning challenge, we can help you succeed. You'll find a full range of supports and services at NSCC, which can be customized to meet your needs.  Some services take time to plan, so the sooner you contact us, the better.

Every year, we help hundreds of students who have trouble with:

  • Keeping up with reading
  • Paying attention and staying focused in class
  • Writing assignments and/or taking notes in class
  • Participating in group work and presentations
  • Seeing print or classroom boards
  • Hearing effectively in class
  • Accessing physical space
  • Identifying other barriers that affect learning

We can help you:

  • Identify any barriers you may be facing and find ways to address them
  • Request academic accommodations
  • Use assistive technology to help read text books, write papers and study
  • Access tutoring
  • Access note-taking
  • Obtain electronic textbooks
  • Apply for funding for disability-related equipment or services
  • Arrange physical access to our buildings, classrooms, learning spaces and equipment
  • Explore additional resources on campus and in the community
  • Learn and practice self-advocacy skills

Documentation for accessing supports and services

After you've been accepted to NSCC and have received your student ID number (W######), you'll be assigned a Learning Strategist.

To ensure your Learning Strategist can plan the appropriate supports and services for your unique needs, we need you to provide documentation as soon as possible. When this information is received, you'll meet with your Learning Strategist to start the planning process. Learn more
