Overview

This advanced diploma is an intensive, one-year, post-graduate level program designed to provide you with a sound basis in the geographic information management systems.

You learn how to:

  • Operate geomatics equipment and software systems
  • Manage and manipulate data
  • Use remote sensing techniques, including image analysis and the transfer and incorporation of remotely sensed data into the GIS data base

This program has a strong connection to geomatics programming and leverages the expertise of the Applied Geomatics Research Group and the Research Scientists in the COGS Applied Research and Innovation hub to enhance applied research and other projects with industry and community.

This program is located at NSCC's Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS). COGS is the Lawrencetown site of Annapolis Valley Campus

Admission requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in a related field of study such as archeology, geography, forestry, geology, resource management, urban planning, science, engineering, computer science, marketing, commerce, economics or business administration.

  • Important Abilities and Skills – Coursework or experience in geographic science, as well as good computer skills (computer terminology, file management, internet and office applications), are recommended to be successful in this program.
