Course Overview

What is all the buzz about bees these days? Participants in this theory-based course will learn about the wonderful world of the bee colony, what it means to be a beekeeper and how to get started. Consider this course as a first step for people who are considering beekeeping as a hobby or a small business venture. There will be a bit of basic biology, a bit of 'how to', some 'show-and-tell', and a whole lot of Q&A and discussion. The course covers a number of topics including the equipment needed to keep bees, colony management, apiary arrangements, swarm control, honey production, labeling & disease control.

Pre-requisite: High School Graduation Diploma or equivalent.
