Course Overview

The objective of this training is to review safe working procedures for confined spaces. Gain the knowledge and skills required to identify, plan and execute entry into a confined space. Knowledge and skills are acquired through a combination of lecture presentations, demonstrations and individual and team exercises. Topics include: Occupational Health & Safety Act; hazards of confined spaces; entry and work procedures; rescue planning and equipment; entry permits; atmospheric testing; energy controls and breathing apparatus systems. Practical training exercises will be conducted in a simulated testing in order to receive course certification. Students who successfully complete the course on the performance standards will receive an NSCC wallet card. Refresher training is recommended every two years.

Pre-Requisite: Students must be in good state of health and are expected to participate in all physical training requirements.
