Waterfront Campus - Parking
Waterfront Campus, like most post-secondary campuses in Metro, has a limited number of parking spaces available. Students are encouraged to explore their options for getting to campus – including use of their U-Pass for busses, ferries and Metro Transit Park'n'Ride lots; and finding ridesharing opportunities so they qualify for a carpooling pass and onsite parking.
Total Waterfront Campus parking capacity for the academic year 2010/11 gives the campus a 'people to parking' ratio of approximately 4:1 – which is considerably better than most universities in the Metro area. Parking passes for staff, students and carpoolers (defined as 3 or more people signed up to travel together) are available at the front desk. The cost of a parking pass is $20 for the academic year. There are no pro-rated fees. A parking pass does not guarantee a parking space – parking lots operate on a first come, first served basis.
Onsite parking (520 spaces) – limited to staff; students who carpool (207 spaces); students with children in the childcare facility (10 spaces); visitors (30 spaces with cash meters) and handicap parking (9 spaces).
Offsite parking for students (354 spaces) – is provided in two locations; The Atlantic Street lot is located adjacent to Dartmouth Gate (former Moirs building) just beyond Tim Hortons. The second student lot is located on Poseidon Court. Shuttle service is provided from both offsite student lots to the Pleasant Street entrance of the campus.
There are also independent parking lots in the vicinity of the campus that provide parking for $2 to $3 dollars per day.
Enforcement of Parking Regulations
Vehicles blocking an access road or fire route on the campus can be ticketed and towed at any time. Vehicles parked onsite at Waterfront Campus on weekdays between the hours of 7:30 AM. and 4 PM. will be ticketed if they are parked in any area requiring an NSCC parking pass without the required authorized pass displayed in the vehicle. If a vehicle is parked in violation of the parking regulations for the third time (meaning two previous tickets) – it will be ticketed and towed without warning at the owner's expense.
