Nova Scotia is lifting its border restrictions and opening to the rest of Atlantic Canada on June 23. Visit this page for press release. View press release for more information.

Updates for travellers

Starting May 20, 2021, travellers will not be able to enter the province until they receive approval. You should apply 1 week before you plan to travel to make sure you receive approval before you arrive in Nova Scotia. Visit this page to apply online.

Effective January 7, 2021 all air passengers five years of age or older will be required to test negative for COVID-19 before travelling from another country to Canada. Documentation of a negative laboratory test result must be presented to the airline prior to boarding a flight to Canada. The test must be performed using a COVID-19 molecular polymerase chain reaction (or PCR) test and must be taken within 72 hours prior to the traveller’s scheduled departure to Canada.

As of February 22, 2021, air travellers are required to take a COVID-19 molecular test when they arrive in Canada before exiting the airport. Air travellers will also be required to reserve prior to departure to Canada, a 3-night stay in a government-authorized hotel, at their own cost while they await the results of their arrival test. View information to book your 3-night stay.

Anyone who receives a negative test result and is authorized to enter Canada must still complete the full, mandatory 14-day quarantine in the country. As travellers are quarantining for 3 days at the Port of Entry, they are allowed to quarantine for 11 days in Nova Scotia, thus completing the balance of 14 days.
