President's update - June 8, 2020

Jun. 08, 2020 – Don Bureaux

Good afternoon,

I know it’s a very busy time. Some of you have wrapped up your studies for the year, some of you are completing remaining course requirements, and others are waiting for critical placements in-sector. I appreciate this has been a challenging year for your studies, and I thank you all for your patience, flexibility and determination.

As we wrap up the current Academic year, I wanted to provide you with an update as we look forward to the year ahead.

Graduating Students – Class of 2020

You will receive a graduation package once you complete your program. This will include your credential, along with information regarding enhanced supports for you as you transition to our alumni community to begin your careers. It may seem a difficult time to enter the workforce, but it is exciting knowing you will be part of the efforts to help rebuild our province through your energy and skills.

We have dates for the granting of credentials (diplomas, certificates) of June 23, August 26 and a third date in October to reflect the varying completion dates for programs. We are planning a fall convocation celebration at which time we will recognize all who have completed their programs this year. It will be designed to respect the public health guidelines and be a unique celebration for a determined group of graduates.

Updated 2020-21 program delivery

We’ve adjusted how we’re delivering our programs to ensure we can safely provide the high-quality education you expect.

For the upcoming 2020-21 Academic year, programs will be offered either fully online (through scheduled and/or non-scheduled classes) or through a blended format with online and on-campus classes. There will be no fully on-campus programs for the 2020-21 academic year.

We’re in this together

We know that things will be different – for those entering the workforce and for those returning to their studies. Our commitment to you remains as strong as ever. Your safety and success are our priority.

Thank you

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for pressing on, being creative and inventive in doing so, reaching out to one another to offer that extra support and caring that has been needed these past few months. I am so proud of all of you and for what you have and will be accomplishing following this unique Academic year. Look at this moment in time not as a drawback but instead a chance to reveal the incredible strength that is within you. To our Class of 2020, I can’t wait for you to receive your credential and for the moment later this year when we will have a different but special chance to celebrate.

You are all one of a kind and I am so proud that you chose to learn and grow through the College.

With gratitude,
