President's Update - May 14, 2020
May 14, 2020 – Don Bureaux
Through these information updates, I’ve shared with you my admiration for your resilience and my appreciation for your patience during this time of uncertainty. I know we are all trying to look ahead for what is next. I want you to know the entire NSCC community is focused on one thing: safely delivering the high-quality learning our students expect and employers count on.
For our graduating students…
Convocation ceremonies at NSCC have always been a much-anticipated celebration of academic achievement and recognition of the hard work and determination of our students. Although this will look different this year, we are exploring opportunities to mark these accomplishments properly. We will provide an update as soon as we have confirmed our new plan to celebrate the unique Class of 2020.
In the meantime, you can look forward to receiving a graduation package when you complete your program. This package will include your hard-earned credential, along with information regarding enhanced supports for you as you transition to our alumni community to begin your careers.
Looking ahead to the new academic year…
We are reviewing and updating our plans for operations and programming knowing our current environment continues to shift and evolve. We are committed to your safety and wellness, as well as to the quality and accessibility of our programs and services. We will share more details about our plans for the 2020-21 academic year in early June.
Students, please continue to reach out to your faculty, advisors and support staff with any questions or concerns. NSCC colleagues – thank you for your continued focus on our learners under extraordinary circumstances.
I hope you enjoy the Victoria Day long weekend.
