Important: NSCC Academic Update - April 16, 2020
Apr. 16, 2020 – Anna Burke
We are committed to finding pathways for students to complete their coursework and, for graduating students, to finish their program as soon as possible. As we wrap up the Winter term and move into Spring/Summer term, here are a few updates that I want to share with you.
Spring and Summer courses
We are planning to deliver Spring and Summer term courses through online or distance learning. There will be no planned on-campus delivery during Spring and Summer terms. Courses that are not able to be delivered through online or distance will be rescheduled or cancelled. Many Spring and Summer term courses are work experience courses and all of those courses are also under review. Academic Schools are finalizing decisions about all Spring and Summer courses this week.
Program graduation requirements
Academic Schools are leading a review of all program graduation requirements, including milestones, program requirements and work experience courses. These decisions will also be confirmed this week.
I’ll be sending an email to all NSCC students this afternoon to provide a similar update. All of these changes have different impacts on students depending on their program, so we’ll be committing to have program-specific updates to students on or before Wednesday, April 22.
Course feedback surveys
Given the extraordinary circumstances of the Winter term, we will not be conducting course feedback surveys for Winter term courses. We know the student voice is vital and will be exploring other ways to understand their experience.
Students planning to enrol in the 2020-21 academic year can now apply for more than $1 million in financing by visiting the new Student Awards Portal You can learn more on the Student Awards Portal Services and Information page.
Thank you again for your continued commitment to our students and to each other.
