Sydney, N.S. – After a lengthy search, Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) has announced its new Marconi Campus principal. Carla Arsenault, President and CEO for the Cape Breton Partnership – Cape Breton Island, will begin her new leadership role at Marconi Campus on December 14, 2021.

Carla has served in the leadership role at the Partnership since 2018. During that time, she has been responsible for the overall strategic direction of the organization, the delivery of two Regional Enterprise Networks, along with managing business operations. The scope of her position has covered the entire island and has involved the important work of building and maintaining solid relationships and trust with public, private and not-for-profit organizations focused on community, business and economic development. Carla began at the Partnership in 2016, working first as Project Manager and then moving into the role of Chief Operating Officer. Prior to her work with the Partnership, Carla worked for more than a decade as the Operations Solution Designer – Pre-Sales Consultant at Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

Her volunteer experience is extensive. Carla has held and holds leadership positions with the Board of Directors, Marine Atlantic, Engage Nova Scotia, Skills Nova Scotia, Pathways Cape Breton, One Nova Scotia and CEED - Centre for Entrepreneurship Education & Development, as well as local Chambers of Commerce and JCI – Junior Chamber International, and has supported numerous other organizations. Carla has an MBA from Royal Roads University and a Public Relations Degree from Mount St. Vincent University.

“We’re so excited to welcome someone with Carla’s talent and experience. This is a critical time for the campus as we dive into the next two and a half years of work involved in bringing the new harbourfront campus to the finish line,” says NSCC Campus and Communities VP Lynn Hartwell.

Hartwell adds that there is a tremendous team to support the new principal and she looks forward to formally welcoming Carla to the Marconi Campus community next month.
