NSCC reaches 2019 enrolment goal

October 01, 2019 – Media Release

Halifax, NS – A total of 10,843 students were enrolled in diploma, advanced diploma and certificate programs at Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) campuses across the province as of September 30, 2019 − the annual date for the College’s official milestone enrolment count.

“Each year reaching our enrolment goal involves a great deal of planning and effort province-wide. This includes collaboration with industry and government partners to ensure our program mix matches labour market needs and inspires our potential students,” says NSCC Academic Vice President Anna Burke.

Over the course of the full academic year, it’s anticipated that NSCC will welcome approximately 20,000 students through the College's full suite of 2019-20 offerings which includes apprenticeship, continuing education, continuous intake and customized training.

Burke explains that changes in enrolment numbers each year are an expected part of our program planning and a measure of the flexibility required to respond to these changing needs.

NSCC conducts a follow up survey with our graduates each year and those results show that 88% are employed, most in their field of study, with 92% of those employed living and working in Nova Scotia. These students are living the mission of the College: through education and innovation, they're growing the province’s economy and quality of life.

Offers of admission for fall 2020 will begin in early November. Applicants are encouraged to apply early to increase the likelihood of securing their program of choice. At NSCC’s upcoming Open House – October 17, 2019 from 9 am to 7 pm – prospective students can explore NSCC's campuses, speak with faculty, staff and students and learn about 130+ career-oriented programs, online learning options and continuing education offerings.
