Nova Scotia Community College meets 2018 enrolment goal
October 02, 2018 – Media Release
Halifax, NS – A total of 10,720 students were enrolled in diploma, advanced diploma and certificate programs at Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) campuses across the province as of September 30, 2018 − the annual date for the College’s official milestone enrolment count.
"The work involved in reaching our goal requires a great deal of preparation for our students to ensure they are in the right program and on the road to success," says Vice President, Academic, Anna Burke. "The foundation for that success includes the College's collaboration with industry and government partners to help build our programming around the opportunities and emerging trends within the labour market."
Over the course of the full academic year, it is anticipated that NSCC will welcome a total of 20,000 students through the College's full suite of 2018-19 offerings, including apprenticeship, continuing education, continuous intake and customized training.
Burke adds that fluctuations in enrolment numbers year over year are an expected part of our program planning and a measure of the flexibility required to respond to these changing needs.
"We conduct a follow up survey with our graduates each year and those results show that 87% are employed, most in their field of choice, with 93% of those employed living and working in Nova Scotia. These students are living the mission of the College: through education and innovation, they're growing the province’s economy and quality of life."
Offers of admission for 2019-20 will begin in early November. Applicants are encouraged to apply early to increase the likelihood of securing their program of choice.
