Before the ceremony

Apply to graduate

You must confirm your graduation by completing the intent to graduate form:

Verify your name

Check MyNSCC (log-in required) to ensure your name appears correctly on your credential, transcript and in the Convocation program. If it needs updating, please contact Student Services. Name changes require presentation of government issued ID such as a driver's license or passport.

Start celebrating

Get excited about your big day and share your experience using the official NSCC Convocation hashtag #NSCCGrad.

Get your alumni ring

Be proud and celebrate your achievements with an NSCC alumni ring. You can purchase a ring at any Charm Diamond Centres store location across Nova Scotia or buy one online. Representatives from Charm Diamond Centres will be onsite taking ring orders at most ceremonies.

Locations and dates

NSCC has 22 ceremonies. View the schedule to find yours.

Arrive early

Be at your ceremony at least one hour early. Parking can be limited - give yourself extra time to find a spot.

Academic Dress

You must wear an academic gown and stole, unless the following situations apply:

  • Indigenous students and African Canadian students may wear items of cultural significance.
  • Active military personnel may wear their dress uniform.
  • Clergy/members of religious orders may wear their religious apparel.

Any additional exceptions must be approved by the Office of the Registrar. Your campus will let you know when to pick up your gown and stole.

Become an alumni

When you graduate, you become part of a growing network that includes tens of thousands of alumni who all share a proud connection with NSCC.

During the ceremony, your faculty will provide you with an alumni registration card. Once you've registered, Alumni Relations will keep you in the loop about the exclusive benefits, professional development, College news, social events and other perks offered exclusively to our graduates. You can update your information any time by filling our the alumni update form
