COVID-19 case identified at NSCC Ivany Campus - April 26, 2021
Apr. 26, 2021 – Statement
Today, (Monday, April 26), a member of our NSCC Ivany Campus community notified us of a positive COVID-19 test.
The individual was last on campus on Tuesday, April 20 and Wednesday, April 21 in the Learning Commons. Anyone considered a close contact of the individual has already received a Nova Scotia Public Health notification. Public Health is only issuing potential exposure notifications in the Central Zone where Public Health recommends people self-isolate and get tested. Ivany Campus has not been identified as an exposure site by Public Health. Ivany Campus will remain open with the existing COVID-19 protocols already in place (masking, distancing and/or extra PPE where that’s not possible, frequent sanitizing).
The individual is self-isolating and received direction and support from Public Health. They are aware that they may not return to NSCC until they’ve received advice from Public Health that it is safe to do so. The campus has reached out to offer support and well wishes for a full recovery. NSCC cannot share details about the individual due to privacy legislation.
Any member of the campus community who is at all concerned, is encouraged to get a test as has been promoted by the Province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health. Employees, students and community partners should continue to watch for updates through NSCC email, our COVID-19 website, or on social media to ensure they have the latest information.
Ivany Campus will work with Public Health in case there is any guidance that requires further updates. The College encourages everyone to continue to take all precautions advised by the Province – including getting tested even if you have no symptoms – to help protect each other and our communities from COVID-19.
NSCC is committed to building Nova Scotia's economy and quality of life through education and innovation, transforming Nova Scotia one learner at a time. NSCC offers more than 130 career-oriented programs throughout the province at our 14 campuses, including our online eCampus. NSCC's primary goal: student success. An annual survey of College graduates shows that 91% are employed one year after graduation, most in their field of study, with 90% of those employed living and working in Nova Scotia.
