COVID-19 case identified at NSCC Akerley Campus - April 25, 2021
Apr. 25, 2021 – Statement
On Sunday [Apr. 25], Public Health notified NSCC of a positive COVID-19 test connected to a member of our Akerley Campus community.
The individual was last on campus on April 19, 2021, in the Marine Trade Shop. Anyone considered a close contact of the individual has received a Public Health notification via email by Public Health – Nova Scotia. Akerley Campus will be closed tomorrow (Monday, April 26) to allow time for enhanced cleaning and any additional direction from Public Health.
The individual is self-isolating and receiving direction and support from Public Health. They are aware that they may not return to NSCC until they’ve received advice from Public Health that it is safe to do so. The campus has reached out to offer support and well wishes for a full recovery. However, NSCC can’t share details about the individual due to privacy legislation.
It is expected that Akerley Campus will reopen on Tuesday, April 27. However, it is recommended that all employees, students and community partners watch for updates through NSCC email, our COVID-19 website, or on social media (Twitter and Facebook) to ensure they have the latest information.
NSCC Akerley Campus will continue to work with Public Health and encourages everyone to continue to take all precautions advised by Public Health officials – including getting tested even if you have no symptoms – to help protect each other and our communities from COVID-19.
