COMP 1217 and COMP 1102 - Challenge

After you have paid your confirmation fee for classes beginning in the fall, you should receive a letter to let you know about the COMPUTER Challenge sessions that will be held on your campus during the summer.

If you feel that you already have good computing skills, you should take the test. It is a hands-on test covering all topics listed in the Course Description.

You will need to register for the Challenge assessment. You may also participate in COMPUTER Challenge at the campus nearest to your location.

Challenge Schedule

2011 Challenge Schedule will be available in Spring 2011.

Test Details

In order to do the test, you must be able to log in to the Nova Scotia Community College computer system. This means you must set up your computer account ID. You will have received an email (if an email address was provided on your application form) with details on how to do this. If you have not received an email, or set up your account, you will need to set up a time to visit the campus to do so. This campus visit can be arranged during the telephone registration process.

If you pass the Computer Challenge assessment, you will be eligible to receive Recognition for Prior Learning for the COMP 1217 or COMP 1102 course. If you pass any of the individual modules in the challenge you will be eligible to be enrolled in your COMP course with a learning contract to complete the remaining modules.
