Concentration Overview

The Game Design & Development Concentration is a 2nd year option of the Interactive & Motion Graphics diploma program.

Games entertain, educate and persuade. Games require interaction within an immersive environment that can take many forms, from pure entertainment to medical and military simulations to training initiatives. In this concentration you learn to apply artistic, technical skills and problem solving skills, as well as critical thinking and logic, to develop games using a game editor and Flash/ActionScript (the programming language for the Adobe Flash Player and Adobe AIR runtime environments). You work in groups to design and develop game prototypes and manage the challenges of the game development cycle for multiple platforms, including web and mobile. You also learn to use object-oriented programming techniques, pre-production design and algorithm designs to develop engaging and playable games.
