Early Childhood Education (Diploma)

Overview

Are you energized by the idea of working with other teachers, professionals, parents and communities to nurture the physical, psychological and social well-being of children and their families? Will you open your mind to ignite creativity in the way you think, play, teach and solve problems? If so, you will find deep satisfaction in the field of early childhood education.

The Early Childhood Education diploma program was developed to meet the National Guidelines for Early Childhood Education in Canada. The program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for working with infant, toddler, pre-school, and school-age children in a variety of settings. Emphasis is placed on developmentally appropriate practice. Students build skills to work with the whole child as well as assisting the child to grow within groups such as the family, the school, and the community. Practicum experience in a variety of early childhood settings allows students an opportunity to observe, practice, and evaluate the theoretical information in the program.
