The weekend.....

Well last Saturday was crazy this Saturday is nuts!!! We have about 1000 people coming from 2 lines to wait to get into the tastings. We have room for 200 people three times a day, thats all. The students are busy serving people, shucking oysters and cooking mussels. The team from Nova Scotia have served thousands of Nova Scotia themed tastings the most popular would be the smoked salmon ball stuffed with apples and cream cheese. We have still to do our lobster dish and I am sure it will be a hit as well.

Last night I took the students to China town to eat, and I think it was a shock for all of them. They let me order, so we had BBQ duck, pork and greens. I love these little Asian restaurants the food is fresh and fast and cheap. The students asked if we could go back again tonight. In order to get back down town we needed to walk into the 'bad' area of Vancouver so with me at the front and Cody at the back we did not have any problems but the student walked a bit faster for those 10 blocks.

Well hello Again!!!

Peter Dewar - Friday, 19 February 2010

I have a few quotes from my student that I would like to share with you:

Amanda: I'm loving Vancouver, the people are very friendly and helpful. It makes me feel like I'm still home back east. The weather has been just beautiful, like spring or fall my favorite times of the year.

Cody: Its great getting to work with all the students from the other province. Olympic fever has sure hit this city.

Jessica: We're having a lot of fun in the city. The energy of the people in Vancouver is incredible. It's an indescribable feeling when Canada winns a gold medal, You hear the entire city cheering out on the streets.

Whitney: It's a lot of hard work and we're getting amazing results, Vancouver has been an great city so far and I think it will only get better. The energy and pride in the air is contagious, you can hear the crowds cheering on Canada through the whole city. I love it.

I am back....

Peter Dewar - Wednesday, 17 February 2010

Its 6 am here in Vancouver and it is the first time in a few day that I have time to blog. Myself and the students just finished a wine and cheese tasting, breakfast for 150, and 3 tastings for 600 people. This was part of Nova Scotia day and a chance for the students to shine and they did. We had our new Nova Scotia chef uniforms on with the flag and everytime we walked in the crowds we heard people saying "Chefs from Nova Scotia"

I will post some pictures later on today-Peter

The transformation of the venue is in high gear with the building being plastered with pictures of home. Lots of people have be stopping by looking for free lobster too. The students come in the morning and I am sure will be nervous to get going.
