Peter Pearl
Electrical Engineering Technology grad
I have nothing but good things to say about NSCC instructors. When they see that you're interested and working hard, they do everything they can to help you.

"There are some people who leave school and start work and they just stop learning," says Peter Pearl.
"I guess I'm not one of them." But Peter's learning journey hasn't always been easy. After dropping out of school in grade ten, he worked a series of what he calls "dead end" jobs.
"I've always considered myself a hard worker," says the 34-year-old, who has been employed as a mechanic, a cook, and a cobbler. "I got really tired of the never-ending cycle of finding a full-time job and then watching it disappear. No matter how hard I worked, I could never get ahead and there was no end in sight."
A conversation with a friend who was attending NSCC sparked Peter's interest in furthering his education. After earning his high school diploma and upgrading a few science courses through NSCC, he moved straight into the Electrical Engineering Technology program, graduating with honours. "I have nothing but good things to say about NSCC instructors. When they see that you're interested and working hard, they do everything they can to help you."
Peter's love of learning led him to Dalhousie University, where he is working towards a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering. Dalhousie gave him credit for his NSCC courses, allowing him to start a year and a half into the four-year degree program.
Entering his final year next September, Peter is excelling academically and still finds time for extra-curricular activities. He's created the Dalhousie Engineering Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) team and serves as its project director. He also volunteers for Robots East and routinely takes apart old computers and refurbishes them for neighbourhood kids.
While Peter's career trajectory is still uncharted, he knows one thing for sure. "I want to be able to work with electronics and experiment and always learn."
