I've gone from supporting my family on $700 or $1,000 a month to earning over $5,000 a month. I work as a marine engineer on a tug and barge tanker operation for Upper Lakes Shipping.
I decided to return to school after working in a body shop for 18 years. I worked hard in the program, and I got through it. When I graduated, I was qualified to be an oiler. That was enough to get my foot in the door.
Now my work takes me around the world visiting ports in Venezuela, up to Chicago and all the places in between. I really enjoy the travel. I'm usually out for about six weeks and back home for six weeks.
