A New Plan
Nova Scotia is facing significant challenges. We need a skilled and available workforce to achieve our economic potential. At the same time, we must live within the realities of fiscal restraint.
It is against this background that NSCC is creating a new strategic plan to guide the College into the future. This will not be a "blue sky" plan that sets a new direction for NSCC. Instead, it will focus on how we can obtain the most impact on our mission – Building Nova Scotia's economy and quality of life through education and innovation.
We held an extensive series of external consultations which included public, community and industry stakeholders. We heard from our students and employees. Our new strategic plan was approved by the NSCC Board of Governors in June, 2012.

Guided by the understanding of Nova Scotia's need for a skilled and available workforce to achieve its economic potential over the next 10 years, 'Now More than Ever' provides clear direction for the College, derived from the thoughts and ideas of the people who know NSCC best, and motivated by our shared desire to shape a better future for our province.
The plan has 4 strategic priorities – Community Connections, Program Quality, Operational Excellence and Access to Success. As we prepare to put these priorities into action, the plan provides focus and will require us to:
- Be more mission-driven than ever before.
- Provide "access on-ramps" so more Nova Scotians can help us address the province's growing labour shortages.
- Provide the advanced skills that will enable Nova Scotia to compete in world markets today, and provide the foundation for the economy of tomorrow.

A new strategic plan for NSCC – As Nova Scotia Community College develops its third strategic plan, it is important to keep in mind the previous stages of the College's growth, as well as the uniquely challenging environment in which this new plan is being developed.NSCC, now more than ever – There has never been a time when Nova Scotia needed NSCC to be more locked on its mission – Building Nova Scotia's economy and quality of life through education and innovation. Nova Scotia must prepare to take full advantage of all future economic development opportunities, while working to get our financial house in order. The strategic planning process – This new plan will be built with input from a broad cross section of stakeholders. External consultations will include employers and representatives from the communities we serve, as well as local government. Internal consultations will include students and employees at all 13 NSCC campuses.Building a new plan together – The success of this planning process, and the quality of the plan itself, is based on frank, timely input from all our key internal and external stakeholders. We encourage all of those groups to come forward and share their thoughts, as this will play a vital role in shaping the future of NSCC.
