Movember!

Good Evening!

Let me start off by apolgizing for the lack of posts since classes started!  There's been a lot going on and it's hard to keep track of anything!

Tonight, I'm writing to let people know about the Photography students' up and coming event. Mophotos, a photobooth to raise money and awareness for men's health issues such as prostate. Not only will the Photo 1 and 2 classes be creating a professional setup of make your own mustaches, props, face paint, etc, but we will be holding a bake sale as well!

I'm really excited that we get to be apart of this, relating to the class, we are to submit our documentation of the day.. so, this is going to help me with my goal of becoming an event photographer! I'm really excited.

Here are some pictures that will probably be on the promo posters (I am the one with the pink hair!), not taken by me, but I believe, Mark Archibald of the 2nd year class.

If you're at Waterfront Campus on November 28th, keep your eyes and ears open for infomation on when and where... I'm pretty sure it's all day, in the atrium.

On a side note, if anybody is interested in my website, it is here

and my Facebook page is here

Thanks for reading!

Jess.

Hey everyone!

Sorry it's been a few days, I have been busy with school and not going to lie.. It has been difficult to think up a new post.

Though, today I think I will just show you a few of the photos that I snapped on our class trip to McNab's Island.  We took the trip on the 15th, and my job was to document a second year student for the day as well as spend some time on one of the piers there and to "dockument" it.

Enjoy :)

First Day of College

Good Evening!

What a busy and eventful day it has been for NSCC's staff and students.  Today was my first day of college and I couldn't be more excited.  I was pleased to see that I knew a few people in my class already, and as for those I do not know, I think we'll hit it off just fine!  I'm glad to say that I am actually looking forward to working with my instructors, it isn't like high school where you have so many teachers and you probably dislike every single one..   They are looking out for you to the best of their ability, not to mention, teaching you everything needed to live your dream.

When I arrived to my classroom we discussed what was expected of us, and talked to second year students, which really helped wrap my head around everything.  Shortly after, we headed upstairs to find refreshments and goody-bags from the Student Association, followed by some more mingling with classmates and instructors.  In the afternoon you were welcome to explore the campus, visit the bookstore and do some other errands such as getting your U-Pass, Student ID, Parking Pass or checking in at the front desk about your tuition.  That was my one problem with today, I didn't realize that even though my loan has been approved for however long, the school hasn't signed it off yet, which in all honesty, is frustrating.  I need my U-pass, and the left over money from the student loan to get my macbook laptop (which we will be using for everything).

This is a stressful time for everyone, parents, students and yes, even staff.  I hope everybody is working to the best of their ability to get things worked out and to stay calm.

ENJOY! :)

Ps:  No photo for today unfortunately, I was caught up in everything, but I'm sure by the end of the week I'll have an update! / Sorry for the lengthy post.

New to the Blog!

Let me introduce myself, my name is Jessica Judge, I’m 18 years old and about to start my first year of Photography at NSCC’S Waterfront campus.  This summer I was very fortunate to receive employment within the IT campus, working for the Marketing department.

It was nice to work in such a professional environment.  I helped out wherever I was needed and was even invited to sit in on creative discussions about this year’s viewbook.  I felt like my opinion mattered, being the one to just come out of high school and choose NSCC, people wanted to know why.  Not only did I get to give my two-cents and complete the tasks at hand, but I was given a crazy opportunity in my world of photography.

I was the official photographer for the IASSID (International Association for the Scientific Studies of Intellectual Disabilities.) World Congress that happened at the World Trade and Convention Centre in July.  I got to spend an entire week, getting up early and going to take photos of this great event, what an honour it was to work with all the volunteers and the University of Regina.  I not only have an amazing list of references from the college, but now the President of the University of Regina, Vianne Timmons, is on my side, I even received a letter of reference and thanks from her weeks later.

Anyway, enough with the rambling, this post is getting a little long.  NSCC has given me so many great opportunities, and I haven’t even started classes yet.  Stay tuned, because I will be updating this blog throughout the year, weekly, if not daily!!
