As a two time graduate of NSCC (Radio Television Arts ’04and Public Relations ’05), I know how important a portfolio is. At NSCC, each student builds a portfolio filled with information about his/her talents, skills and achievements. This gives NSCC graduates an additional edge on the competition when it comes to employment.
I was reminded of the significance of portfolio education when I received an invitation to ‘Flaunt’. The College’s Public Relations class organizes the annual event, which was originally designed to showcase PR student portfolios. The evening has since evolved into an impressive networking event, highlighting the high caliber work that is produced by NSCC students and the quality of education available at NSCC.
This year marks the tenth anniversary of NSCC’s Advanced Diploma in Public Relations. Past and present PR students, faculty, mentors and employers gathered at the Prince George Hotel in Downtown Halifax to celebrate the 2009 Public Relations class and the success of the program. With over 100 professionals in attendance, Flaunt 2009 was a success.
