High School: Miramichi Valley High School

Favourite High School class: I loved my Law class. The teacher was awesome and I really learned a lot! I went on to become a Probation Officer for three summers while I was in university, so some of that information stuck.

What I wanted to be when I grew up: lawyer, nurse, actress, food critic

What does a Student Life Coordinator do? I work with our campus Student Associations to provide them with leadership development opportunities as well as support them in day to day organizational management. I also work on some college wide student services, like the Health and Dental plan and the Student Handbook.

Best part of my job: Working with students to make amazing stuff happen! Student leaders at NSCC, in addition to being full time students with outside of class commitments, really work hard to provide their fellow students' with a memorable college experience. It's tough work and usually goes unrewarded. However, I know their hard work is well represented on their resumes and in their portfolios at the end of the year. And their leadership is really going to take them places!

NSCC background: I started working at NSCC on August 26, 2003. Moved to Halifax from the big city of Toronto and haven't regretted it a moment.

Favourite NSCC class: My first "class" upon joining NSCC as a staff member was Portfolio. And I loved it! I got to really know myself as a person, an employee, a student services professional...and now I have a ton of tangible examples of how great I am :-)

My playlist: Kanye West, The Veronicas, Katy Perry, Eminem, Rihanna, Depeche Mode, Spirit of the West, Billy Bragg. If it can be sung, it has probably been on my playlist at some point!

My reading list: Love anything written by John Irving, especially "A Prayer for Owen Meaney". Right now I am trying to read "Eat, Pray, Love" as well as "The Time Traveller's Wife". I will also admit to just having re-read the last Harry Potter book.

Must see movies: The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, 13 Going on 30, Love Actually…yes, I like Chick Flicks!! I also really liked The Social Network and not because JT was in it!

Best Superhero: Wonder Woman. She had a kickin' outfit and an invisible plane!

Fave TV shows: Grey's Anatomy. How I Met Your Mother. The Big Bang Theory (soooo funny!!) I also really like cooking shows like Top Chef and Hell's Kitchen. And of course, GLEE!
