NSCC Student Association

At the heart of student life...your NSCC Student Association.

As a student at the NSCC, you automatically become a member of an amazing student run organization - your Student Association (SA)! Each campus has its own Student Association made up of an elected student Executive Committee (President, Vice President Operations, VP Communications, VP Student Activities and VP Finance) and the Students' Council. The Students' Council is the main governing body of the Student Association and is comprised of Executive Committee members and elected representatives from each program area. All students who pay a Student Association fee are automatically members of the SA.

Events

We are always adding to our growing events calendar, but already there are lots of exciting things underway for the upcoming academic year...

  • SA EXPO - Get to know your Student Association at our "SA EXPO". This is a chance to find out all about your student government and the amazing opportunities for involvement that we offer on campus. Don't forget to bring your resume.
  • NSCC College Idol - Think you're a great singer? Prove it by auditioning for our Campus Idol competition. The campus winner will advance to the Provincial NSCC College Idol competition and will have a chance to win big prizes not to mention ultimate bragging rights.
  • Frost Fest - Join us in the month of February for Frost Fest, our own unique winter carnival experience.

We are always looking for ways to make student life fun for everyone. If you have a great event idea, an interesting program or service you think students might really enjoy or you just want to help us out, email us and tell us all about it!

Getting Involved

Becoming a part of the Student Association is easy. You can become a program representative in September. You can volunteer on an SA subcommittee. You can run for an Executive position. It all depends on how much time you have to offer. To get even more students involved, the Student Association has created the following appointed student positions:

Social Coordinator - this student is guaranteed to have a great time! With the help of a social committee and under the supervision of the VP Student Activities, the Social Coordinator is responsible for organizing fun events and activities for students the whole year long. The only limit to this position is your imagination!

Sports Coordinator - this individual helps organize our intramural activities and sports teams and gets students involved in health and wellness programming.

Chief Returning Officer - this position runs our Student Association Fall and Spring elections, organizing candidate open forums, overseeing campaigning and voting as well as ensuring the elections process is open and equitable for all!

We also appoint a variety of Committee Chair positions based upon need throughout the year, so keep your eyes peeled for SA - NOW HIRING signs posted around the campus.

Elections

Think you have what it takes to help lead your campus Student Association? Then make sure to pick up nomination forms to run in our Fall Student Association Elections for the positions of Vice President Operations, VP Communications and VP Student Activities. And remember, every spring the Student Association elects its President, VP Finance and VP Student Activities for the following academic year.

Remember: Student life is what you make of it. By getting involved with your campus SA, you can make it great!
