Chef Instructor Peter Dewar helps Team Canada Win Gold

Kentville, NS – Chef Instructor Peter Dewar from the Culinary Arts program at the Kingstec Campus of Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) returned from the Culinary World Cup in Luxembourg with two gold medals.
Chef Instructor Dewar competed as part of Culinary Team Canada. This team of chefs from across the country represents Canada in competitions throughout the world. The team received a gold medal for the cold food competition and the hot competition.
The Culinary World Cup began in 1986 and is an international culinary event that draws 1,000 chefs from all over the world. A jury of chefs from around the globe selects the winner of this prestigious competition. Judges award bronze, silver or gold medals, with the best team winning the Culinary World Cup.
"It was an amazing experience to compete in a competition of this level," says Chef Instructor Peter Dewar. "I learned a lot of new techniques through this competition and I can't wait to share them with my students."
The final top five teams in the Culinary World Cup were: Singapore, Sweden, United States, Switzerland and Canada.
Culinary Team Canada will continue to participate in competitions around the world as they prepare to represent Canada at the Culinary Olympics in 2012.
