NSCC students succeed at Canadian Skills Competition

Halifax, NS – Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) congratulates Team Nova Scotia for its outstanding performance at this year's Canadian Skills Competition held May 20-23 in Waterloo, Ontario. Team Nova Scotia included 22 NSCC students and apprentices, six of whom captured medals.
Aaron Hebb, an Automotive Collision Repair and Refinishing student at NSCC's Kingstec Campus in Kentville, won a gold medal in the car painting category and looks forward to demonstrating his skill on the world stage at the WorldSkills Competition from October 5 – 8, 2011 in London, England. "I couldn't believe it when my name was called; I was still shaking when I walked off the stage," says Mr. Hebb. "This has been a life changing experience."
Team Nova Scotia was made up of 47 high school, post-secondary and apprenticeship students who had already earned gold at provincial skills competitions held at NSCC campuses throughout the province in April. Team members competed nationally in over 40 different categories this year.
