Current School of Business programming options

The programs offered by the NSCC School of Business are always undergoing renewal. This continuous improvement process involves extensive consultation with employers, faculty, graduates and students to ensure that program outcomes continue to meet the needs of employers and students.

Sobeys Culinary Centre

In 2005, NSCC entered a long-term strategic relationship with Sobeys, resulting in the establishment of Sobeys Culinary Centres at six NSCC sites. Culinary students entering the culinary program will study at one of these centres. With a shared focus on investing in culinary education, we are pleased to be working with Sobeys and are excited by the tremendous opportunities that this relationship will provide NSCC faculty and students.

Co-operative education

Several programs are eligible for optional co-operative education. Co-op is an NSCC credit course. Co-op provides an opportunity for paid employment between the first and second year of your program, while completing the learning outcomes of the course. Employers, as co-educators, provide learning opportunities beyond the bounds of the classroom giving you a well-rounded education enriched by practical application. Co-op can be considered your bridge to the labour market. For more information, discuss this course option with your faculty advisor or Centre for Student Success. Tourism Management and Culinary Arts require the completion of mandatory co-op placements for graduation.

We value your life experience

If you choose to work toward a diploma with NSCC, you may be eligible for credits based on your past education and life experience. For more information, go to Recognizing Prior Learning.

Programming and Services for Small Business

Over the next two years, NSCC will be creating a broader and more flexible mix of programming and services in entrepreneurship and small business management. For example, we have experienced entrepreneurs and business experts on faculty that we want to deploy to assist budding entrepreneurs and small business operators to learn and prosper. We are building the processes to help you connect with these experts to help you launch or grow your business.

If you want to learn more about business right away, NSCC has over 70 additional business courses online that are delivered on a rotational basis in our Fall, Winter and Spring terms. Courses are available in areas such as:

  • Small Business Management
  • Accounting
  • Business Administration
  • Computer Studies
  • Ecotourism
  • International Business
  • Office Administration

Part-time studies in your local area

Each of NSCC's 13 campuses offers courses through part-time studies. Courses in accounting and computer studies are typically offered as well as other business subjects. For more information, please contact your local campus.

Diploma and certificate options

If you would like to combine your learning toward a diploma or other credential, NSCC has programming designed to focus on various aspects of business. For applicants interested in obtaining a more general business or management education who are not working toward a specific business idea, NSCC programs to consider include:

  • Business Administration diploma
  • Tourism Management diploma

Field Schools

Students from the School of Business can choose to earn credits by studying in an International Field School.
