How to Apply
The information on this page is for students who wish to apply to full-time programs. To register for a Continuing Education course, click here for more information.
We accept and admit qualified applicants for all programs on a 'first received, first qualified' basis. This assessment begins in November and continues until a program fills. It is important that you apply online now to avoid missing the opportunity to be admitted to your chosen program. We will review your application when it is complete and notify you of the results as quickly as possible.
Here's how to apply for a full-time program:
- Check Program Availability: Check to see if your program has openings. You can view our program openings document here.
- Apply: Click here to complete and submit your application and application fee online; or complete a Program Application and mail it to us along with your application fee. You can download the program application here, or obtain a copy at your local campus. Indicate your program and campus choice - you can submit up to three choices. (One program at two different campuses is considered two choices).
- Complete the Paperwork: Complete the paperwork by arranging to send your application fee, transcripts and an Entrance Portfolio if required. Check the program description under 'Admissions Requirements' to see if your program requires an entrance portfolio. NOTE: Your application is not complete until you submit the required paperwork.
- Changing your Application: If you need to change details of your application contact NSCC Admissions at or call 1-866-679-6722 (toll-free) or (902) 491-4911 (in metro) or fax 1-866-329-6722 (toll-free) or (902) 491-3514 (in metro).
What happens next?
- Assessment
We accept and admit qualified applicants for all programs on a 'first received, first qualified' basis and your application is processed as soon as we receive it.- Assessments usually begin in November and continue until a program fills.
- It is important that you apply early to avoid missing the opportunity to be admitted to your chosen program.
- We will review your completed application and notify you of our decision as quickly as possible.
- Confirmation
- Once you are accepted, you must confirm your intention to enroll by paying the required non-refundable confirmation fee within the specified time frame indicated on your letter. If you fail to pay this fee by the required deadline, you will risk losing your seat in your program
- If you are qualified for a program that is full, you may be placed on a Waitlist. If a seat becomes available at a later date, you will be contacted by mail to let you know you have been accepted
- If you are not accepted into a program, you will receive a call from the campus of your first program choice to discuss other available options.
- Tuition & Fees Payment
- Each year, the first tuition and fees payment is due in early August. This payment includes tuition, Health & Dental Plan costs and Student Association fees. If you do not make payment arrangements on time, you risk losing your seat in your program
Avoiding Delays
Before submitting your application to NSCC, please make sure you have included the following:
- Completed program application
- Application processing fee
- Official school transcripts
- Resume (if applicable)
- Portfolio (if applicable)
- English proficiency results (if applicable)
- Any other supporting documentation
Missing or inaccurate information can also lead to delays. Make sure your application includes the following:
- Full address, contact number(s), and e-mail address. If you move or change your mailing address, please contact NSCC Admissions immediately with your new contact information. We want to ensure you receive all communications from our office.
- Our preferred way to communicate with you is via e-mail. Please ensure that the e-mail address you have provided is secure and accessible. If you change your e-mail address, please notify us immediately.
- Former family names (especially important if different from the name on your transcripts)
- Program choices and campus locations in order of preference
