Admission Priorities

First Nations/African Canadian Applicants

The College is committed to promoting and fostering a diverse learning environment. As part of this commitment, one seat will be available in each program section for the first qualified First Nations applicant and one for the first qualified African Canadian applicant (Nova Scotia residency applies). If you are a member of either of these diversity groups, you are encouraged to self-identify on your NSCC application.

Adult Learning Program Students

Two seats in each first level program section will be reserved for current student of NSCC's Adult Learning Program (ALP). If you are a current ALP student, you are encouraged to self-identify on your application.

In order to effectively manage our enrolment, the availability of these seats for 2010-2011 can only be guaranteed until May 1, 2010. After that, qualified applicants will be admitted on a first received, first qualified basis for those programs where vacancies exist.

Residency Requirement

All applicants will be admitted to programs in the following order of preference:

  1. Nova Scotia residents who are Canadian citizens, or Nova Scotia residents with permanent resident status at the time of application and who have lived in Nova Scotia for the immediate twelve months prior to the start of classes
  2. Canadian citizens and those with permanent resident status, who live outside of Nova Scotia
  3. Citizens of other countries
