Barb MacDonald, B. Arch., NSAA
NSCC School of Trades & Technology Faculty
As an architect, I love the design and construction process, but what I like even more is sharing what I know with engaged and motivated minds. Our class sizes are small, so I get to know my students personally, and I am very proud on graduation day. NSCC is full of experts, and I'm proud to be able to say I'm one of them.
Barb MacDonald
Throughout her career Barb has found a number of ways to share her knowledge of architecture. She's worked for small and large architectural firms, did a little bit of teaching at the college along the way and managed capital projects for the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM). While Barb thoroughly enjoyed her work with HRM, a chance discovery that NSCC was looking for a full-time Architectural Drafting instructor sealed her fate. "I always wanted to return to teaching. I knew it wasn't an easy job - but I knew it would be rewarding", she says.
Barb is a firm believer that life-long learning is key. She notes, "what I love about the college is that we welcome the industry knowledge and give instructors the opportunity to stay current with their profession. I am happy to be back."
